Yogic Flying: That’s Just Silly

Yogic flying is the reported ability to fly, levitate and otherwise escape earth’s gravity by meditation, spiritual channeling and that sort of thing in general.   To become a yogic flyer, one must start with the standard measures of meditating, fasting, concentrating, maintaining spiritual balance and then move onto the flying part.   The first step in yogic flying is to master the ability to fly for short “hops” while sitting with legs crossed.   This works best if you are on a bed or a trampoline but some experienced yogic flyers can do it on any ground and still manage to get a good foot or so off the ground.

The next step is to progress past the short hops to the ability to make short flights and to hover above the ground.   This, unfortunately, has apparently eluded all modern attempts at flight.   Some insist that some of the highest ranking and most spiritually powerful Yogis of the east can do it, but thus far, none have managed to do so on camera or in front of a large audience.

Thus for now, it remains only “hops” for the practitioners of yogic flying but they insist it’s not just jumping on their knees.  No, they will tell you that they are flying.. only very briefly.   On a few occasions many have gathered to promote peace by hopping... er… yogic flying..  Yes, people do take this seriously.   And it is claimed that by gathering and “flying” positive energy can be concentrated and thus peace is promoted.   There is even a political party in the UK that promotes yogic flying as a way of improving the nation.

Apparently quite a few are working damn hard on improving their flying skills.   We’ll get back to you once one manages to stay in the air for more than about what you’d expect from hopping.

Here’s a video on the matter:

Yogic Flying demonstrates perfect mind-body coordination and is correlated with maximum coherence, indicating maximum orderliness and integration of brain – you obviously lack that sort of intellectual integration because you are an incurable cynic and can’t believe enough to ever understand or enjoy the bubbling bliss of this transcendental phenomenon. ;)

Haha. I love it. Many people have gotten to step two. But… that’s where they’re stuck. Gee, I wonder why!

I guess you could try to prove that they are not “flying” by analyzing their time in the air and the acceleration downward and showing it is a parabolic trajectory consistent with just a basaltic “hop” and then show a mathematical proof that it is not at all flying.

Do you think that would make anyone change their mind? I don’t.

Actually, if you mean the Natural Law Party when you say ” There is even a political party in the UK that promotes yogic flying as a way of improving the nation.” then you are incorrect.

The BBC article is dated 1999 and they only “stood” for a few years (and received next to no support I might add).

There are many ‘parties’ in politics both here and in the USA, that have their own narrow specific agenda and just seem to use the political system as a means of advertisement. It doesnt mean we should take them seriously :)

That is honestly one of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen. It is almost beyond belief that there is anyone on earth who takes that seriously, but I do realize there are and it’s not even a unique example of something as crazy as that.

Russel is that really the most ridiculous thing you have ever seen? I am concerned you have lived a very sheltered life.
