That seems like a nightmare. Being given powers that turn you into a lame superhero. God, I'd consider it more a disability than empowerment!

What a lame video!

Wow, very um... what's the word? Actually I'm speechless.

I don't want to seem old either but I remember the filmstrips from health class which was basically sex-ed before they called it that (or do they still call it that... I don't know.)
Speaking of badly done school films... Anyone remember that PCP freak-out that Helen Hunt had in her first (that I know of) film roll on the dangers of PCP? If I remember correctly, she took a flying leap out of an upper-story window. Well it wasn't so much flying as falling.

I think I actually saw that filmstrip. It made me want to have unprotected sex. Well, no not really, but it was so lame that it was a joke to the class. But this video is even worse. Yes, if you make a movie for education just say the facts. Trying to be "cool" is kinda insulting.

Yeah I prefer that if films are shown for education they just tell you the facts in a standard manner and don't make an attempt to be "hip" because it's always a complete failure and comes off as patronizing and counter-productive.

I remember watching a "filmstrip" (anyone remember those. Do they still use them? I'm not that old) in health class in Junior high. It must have been from the early 80's and it was on herpes. If they just said "it's a virus which can be spread even when a person has no symptoms and may incubate for several months or more than a year before flaring up in a painful rash. There is no cure and it is a lifelong condition although symptoms are not always present..."

If they had said that, it would have been okay. Perhaps a bit dry, but it would have been respectable. Instead they had this little cartoon virus say "Heeyy... what's up? I'm new around these parts. The name's Herp. I'm what you call a sexually transmitted disease, but I'm different because I like to keep it on the down low most of the time and just pop up when I'm feeling like making things itchy... I'll be your budy for life because me and my buds like to hang out in your cell linings, taking it easy until party time..."

Ya, that was painful.

We got a lot of that sewage when I was in school, not just on safety but a whole spectrum of subjects, all attempts at social engineering.

What the dummies didn't understand is that we all watched television and thus were, already under the influence of propagandists that were more skilled at their task, and had higher production values than these excruciating offerings we got at school.

In other words even at the time we could barely contain ourselves when one of these things were run. It was only the threat of the strap in some cases that stopped the giggling.
