Very Sad News: Jerry Andrus has Passed Away

August 27th, 2007

I am very sad to say that Jerry Andrus has passed away of cancer. He was 88*. For those who may not know, Mr. Andrus was a skeptic, a magician, an inventor, a visionary, a humanist and an amazing man. He was a gentle, human-loving, enthusiastic man who seemed to never loose the sense of satisfaction he got from all the lives he touched and all the minds he opened. *(I believe he was 88, but do not know his exact date of birth so I may be off by a year)

I met Mr. Andrus at The Amazing Meeting 5 in Las Vegas in January 2007. I had known before meeting him about his inventions and illusions, but I had no idea how unique and gifted he was. I now look back and consider it an amazing privatively to have had that opportunity to spend some time with the man, not realizing how little time remained. I am very saddened by the news, although I knew he had some recent health issues, and obviously he had been getting along in years. I had truly looked forward and hoped to his attendance at future gatherings.

Rather than type what I want to say about Mr. Andrus, I made a short video. It’s on the fly, a bit rough and maybe a little rambling. But honestly, I think a lot of us who knew him feel a bit at a loss for the right words.
