Tom Cruise on Scientology

I’ve heard a lot of things about Tom Cruise being generally pretty generous and one of the less bastardly celebs to those around him, so he’s probably an okay guy. Of course, I don’t actually know the man, but what I do know is he’s rather into Scientology, a bizzare combination psuedo-science, religion and old fashioned fraud. This is a video which was reportedly leaked from the Church of Scientology in which Cruise discusses his views on the subject. It gets a little … scary.

No thanks, Mr. Cruise, I don’t need you to “help” me.

The Church of Scientology has a long history of courting celebrities, and by many reports, they tend to be less aggressive with extorting “donations” and generally provide well known persons with a more pleasant experience than many of the peons they scoop up get. Obviously this is a PR move: Get some well known faces to make your case and you can snare some more victims ..um… converts..

Click here to view the original website which posted it and read more about the video.

Obviously, the Church of Scientology has already demanded the video be removed and is perusing legal action. So check it out while it’s still there!

Cruise is one of the poor deluded people that think, that just because they have some talent that, this equates to being intelligent. Why does he think that his skill at pretending to be someone else grants him the right to run a confidence scam on the general public.

He really is rather dense, the problem seems to be that he thinks of himself as an intellectual, and that I think is the handle that the Church of Scientology uses to control him; they stroke his flimsy little ego, and tell him that he is an important part of their plans, and he laps it up.

Of all the idiotic behaviors this decadent culture of ours engages in, the elevation of actors of all people, to the status of social leadership, and opinion formers is the most distressing one of all.

Okay, maybe he is a nice guy. Maybe he tips well and signs autographs with a smile and is not rude and holds the door for old ladies. So what? I don’t see this kind of thing as a commentary on Mr. Cruise personally but on the COS. He might be a decent guy, but like many other decent people he’s been brainwashed, controlled and manipulated by an organization that is very good at suckering people in.

If he has a fault it’s not being strong willed and balanced enough to see what he was being lead into. At this point he’s not “Tom Cruise” he’s just another person that the cult has rapped around it’s finger. I feel no anger for him, only some pitty

Do you think the owners of the Mission Impossible trademark and theme music rights are OK with the Churh of Scientology’s use of them in that video?

The COS said that it was deceptively edited. I don’t know how they could. I can’t imagine anything that could be added other than “Now here’s my impression of a raving madman” that would make me think otherwise. It must have been long if they cut it down. I can imagine him raving like this for hours. It’s 10 minutes and I still ended up jumping ahead in it a few times. It was not very informative. it was however kinda disturbing.

I love it. The best part is where he laughs like a lunitic. It’s crazy from the start, but that part has the most overdone insanity to it. Also the fact that it shows him winning some stupid award for being a scientologist. “We’re the authority on the mind” yes Tom keep saying that.
