Site is Back!

Many apologies!

For those who don’t know, I’ve been running for the US Congress.   I’ve been so ridiculously busy that when the site was taken down (due to my failure to update my credit card on the host) I didn’t notice for a week.  By the time I noticed, the host had deleted my files.   Thankfully, I was able to restore them from backups which were made only four days before the site was taken down, so nothing was lost, except a few comments.

The reason it took so long is I had to manually rebuild the SQL database from the log files and that was rather involved.  Being so busy, I had been unable to set aside the few hours it took to do so.   However, now I have and the site is back.

Sorry again for the service interuption!

Thanks for taking the time to restore it Steve. I would hate to lose the ability to reference your past articles in discussions.

It’s going pretty well. There is actually a favor I’d like to ask of readers. If you could visit my Facebook page and hit “LIKE” that would be great. If you could ask your friends and family to do so that would be even better, and if you can post something on Facebook asking others to do so, that would be just fantastic.

    The page is here: https://www.facebook.com/Packard2012

The reason is that a couple of people in the local media have made big todo about the fact that my competitors have more Facebook fans than I do. It’s obviously very stupid, as Facebook fans are meaningless, but since it seems to be counted by some, I’d like to upstage the others

A lot of Unicode characters are showing up as nonsense in old posts, might be worth trying to fix.

    Oh crap!

Yeah, can you point out a couple posts that are doing that?
