Larry King is an idiot

Does anyone watch this dude anymore?   He lost it a long time ago and has had plenty of self-proclaimed psychics on, generally gushing all over them as well as things as irresponsible and downright harmful as Jenny McCarthy explaining why not to vaccinate your kids.  Even worse, she wasn’t nude, and her only damn tallent and reason for being famous is looking good nude!

Larry has also had UFO wackos on before on more than a couple of occasions.   This video, however, well, it just takes things to a new level of stupid.  I love how it’s reported as if it were a big breaking news story.

(Unfortunately I can’t embed it in this page.)

Thanks to Phil for pointing this out on his blog.

I’m afraid I didn’t have the stomach to watch more than a couple of minuets of this drivel. Of all the stupid pseudoscientific notions out there, for me the UFO nonsense takes the cake. I look forward eagerly to that day when this silly meme has run its course and is relegated to its proper place in history’s dustbin.

I do not think I would want to live in a world where extraterrestrials do not exist.

I know I would not want to live in a world where extraterrestrials made their presence known on Larry King.

Has anyone made the connection to the fact that as reports of extraterrestrials/UFO’s have gone up, reports of visions of the Virgin Mary/Jesus have gone down?

Your statistic is meaningless without including the all important Elvis component. Without that, it is just a curiosity.

Still waiting for the Return of the King, eh?

    Elvis just completes the trinity.

So, basically your argument/response to the guys on the video is, “I think this is crap.” Well, that isn’t any more convincing to me than what they were saying they saw.

I will admit, though, that the cheesy background videos of cardboard boxes (?) flying thru the air, and blobs of glowing light don’t really cut it either.

In all cases where someone is making an unusual claim, the onus is on them to supply proof. Without that constraint we (and I don’t mean just this group) would have to spend almost all our time and other resources chasing down nonsense.

This is the problem with the whole UFO/aliens field – no hard evidence. Claiming that the authorities are hiding the truth (a play on old Cold War paranoia) only underlines how weak the evidence is. And it’s a business, now; lots of writers and speakers are making a living off this myth, how can one trust anything they say without evidence

This is not to say I don’t think there is intelligent life elsewhere in the universe; any reasonable calculation with the Drake Equation almost guarantees it, but coming here to push anal probes into humans…
