Religion, like many other institutions from the past, (like feudalism. for example) simply lived out its usefulness, which is why it no longer attracts the sort of quality thinkers that kept the sort of nonsense that is happening now under control. Dogma, as idiotic as it was, at the very least placed some boundaries on belief.
