The Champion

Yes it’s true! It may not really be science related, but as an American, July 4 2007 will always remain in my mind as not only the day our nation celebrates it’s birth, but the date that the Nathans Hotdog Eating Contest, the biggest event in the “sport” of competitive eating has been returned to the US.It’s a matter of national pride, as the title had been owned by the US for most of it’s history, but in more recent times, new challengers have stepped forward. For the past six years, Takeru Kobayashi. of Japan held the title, and Americans everywhere were a bit less proud and questioned whether the days of “American” being synonymous with “Gluttony” were coming to an end.

Thanks, Joey! You make America proud! ….or something.
