Apparently those natural cures didn’t work.

I’ve written about Kevin Trudeau before, who has sold his books full of useless and wrong information claiming to know of “natural cures” which the big bad companies are keeping from us all and which are capable of solving every health problem known to man. The quackery and blatent lying of Trudeau is the sort of thing that I simply have no patience for. Trudeau is known for infomercials where he recruited a number of D-list celerities to come on and push his books and products. Some of his claims are that we need to detoxify ourselves from the bad chemicals and “artificial” substances of the modern world. Trudeau claims that we can easily cure cancer or other major diseases with his methods, which range from colon flushes to organic food diets and other so-called “natural” methods.

One celebrity he had on a few of his infomercials backing up his claims is Tammy Faye Messner, the well known drama queen with the heavy mascara. Tammy Faye has been involved in more than a few scandals and other incidents during a life spent promoting Jesus. She stood by Trudeau and claimed that modern medicine is the devil and that natural cures are all you need.

However, in 1996 she was diagnosed with colon cancer (ironically a disease that is often claimed to have been caused by toxins in the digestive tract by the “natural cures” crowed). Despite what the said on Trudeau’s infomercials, she did receive chemotherapy and thanks to modern medicine she was able to survive for some time. But the cancer could only be kept in check for so long and within eight years later and spread to her lungs. She died in July 2007.

As I mentioned, I do not have much sympathy for those who go around pushing such obscenely useless quackery and taking advantage of those who are ill, desperate or otherwise susceptible to these scams. Her death in this manner is somewhat ironic. One might even call it a sort of poetic justice. But just the same, it’s hard not to feel some pitty, if not sympathy for someone who goes the way she did. She was interviewed on Larry King shortly before her death:

Pitiful, yes, but I don’t feel that much for her really. What I think of when I see that is that there are lots of other people who have had to go through such horrible illnesses and died horrible deaths like she did. And many of them contributed much more good and much less greed and fraud to the world than her.

I feel bad more for the others than for this woman, who may not have deserved something as bad as this, but others deserved it even less…

Have to agree with Paul – I’ll save my pity for those who deserve it.

Tammy Faye was a pathetic excuse for a human, and stripped of her troweled on makeup and crocodile tears was nothing but a grifter who was on the take most of her life.

I wonder how many sick people she and Baker conned out of money they needed to pay for care?

The world became a little bit better the moment she died.

Am I the only one who thinks it’s ridiculous that someone dying from cancer is so obsessed with her own image that she would spent the time to paint on that ridiculous makeup even when she can barely breath or move? I’m not glad to see her dead or anything, but she was a really messed up woman in more ways than one.

It is so obvious that this page is either paid off by or run by the big pharma companies and the other damn big corps who make money off of chemical medicine it is sickening that anyone would believe it. This is so evil to act like it’s pro-science and likes dogs and then turn around and stomp all over homeopathy just to steal more money from everyone.
