Being a “psychic” means lying to people who trust you, people in the most grief-stricken states of mind and taking money from the weakest. It’s such dishonesty that it attracts those who are basically pathological liars and will say anything. Lying to the police is unwise, that is for sure, but these people lie so much and it’s habitual and they don’t even stop to think that maybe they shouldn’t lie to someone. For them, what they say is what serves them and they get used to getting away with it.

The sad thing is that she will probably get community service and a fine or something and then after that she’ll go back to work in her dishonest little psychic buisiness and scam people just like before and nobody will care that she is convicted of lying to police and falsely reporting an incident. These people cna be outed and shamed as much as you want and people still go to them.
